Priyaranjan Das of Dandamukundapur village had filed a writ seeking justice for his minor son Ayashkanta, who was allegedly kidnapped on July 24 by some influential persons who tortured him in presence of policemen and the police refused to register a case in this regard although a written complaint was filed.

Taking up the writ, Justice Indrajeet Mahanty issued notices to the government asking it to file the counters within one week.

Alleging that the entire administration was trying to shield the accused, the petitioner had named the state DGP, home secretary, Puri collector, Puri SP and Pipili police station inspector as respondents in the case.

An FIR was lodged with the local police station naming at least five persons. The petitioner said the persons named in the FIR were nurturing a grudge against him over an earlier issue.
