The Orissa High Court today directed police to submit the case diary pertaining to the death of an engineering graduate in a hostel in Bhubaneswar in May last year to the high court within two weeks.
Following allegations of involvement of BJD leader and Bhubaneswar Mayor A N Jena behind the death of Asutosh Mohanty alias Rishi, Khandagiri police had registered a case in this connection and the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Commissionerate Police had formed a special team to probe into the allegations.
A friend of Rishi - Anurag Mohapatra - had approached the high court alleging gross inaction by the Commissionerate Police in investigating into the case so far and had urged the court to order either a CBI or a crime branch inquiry into the matter due to the involvement of a high-profile ruling party leader.
Taking up Anurag's petition, Justice B K Nayak ordered the Commissionerate Police to submit the case diary of the case in the high court within two weeks, said the petitioner's advocate Ashok Mohapatra.
