Ornaments, cash worth Rs 1 crore stolen fron jewellery shop

According to police, Pooja jewellery shop's shutter on the ground floor of Shivaji Nagar co-operative housing society building at N M Joshi marg area was found broken by the owner Vijaykumar Gurjar (52) at about 8.30 AM when he was on a morning walk.

He immediately went into the shop to find the jewellery and cash missing, police said.

Gurjar informed his family members as he stayed on the third floor of the same building, police said, adding, "Subsequently, the victim notified us. There is no CCTV at the shop."

"The latch of the shop was broken by the burglars. Gold ornaments worth Rs 72 lakh, silver ornaments worth Rs 27.88 lakh and Rs 1.50 lakh in cash was stolen from the shop, which was closed last night at 9 PM," Sunil Sawant, Assistant inspector at N M Joshi Marg police station said.

 

"Except cash counter, nothing else was ransacked. Back door shutter remained intact," he said, adding further probe was on.
