Ornaments worth Rs 20 lakh stolen from jewellery shop

Jewellery worth Rs 20 lakhs was stolen from a shop in Chitralalya locality of Boisar here on Diwali, police said today.

API Mahesh Patil of Boisar police station told PTI that as per the complaint by the owner of Madhuban Jewelers, Sabulal Jain, it was around 8 pm on October 22 that he closed the shop and went home.

Yesterday, when he opened the shop in the morning, he found the rear door of the shop broken and jewellery worth around Rs 20 lakh missing following which he lodged a complaint.

Boisar police have registered an offence under sections 454, 457, 380 rw 34 of the IPC against the unknown thieves and a manhunt is on for the accused.
