: The founder of an orphanage at nearby Usilampatti was arrested Saturday for allegedly sexually assualting a minor girl, police said.
G Devapitchai was arrested on a complaint from the 11-year-old girl, who said he had sexually assaulted her several times and threatened her with dire consequences if she revealed it to anyone, they said.
The man was booked under POCSO (Protection Of Children from Sexual Offences Act), they said.
The girl, an inmate of the orphanage since she was seven years old, had reported the matter to the teacher, who alerted the district child protection officer, police said.
They said there 18 children in the orphange, of whom 14 were girls.
All of them were shfited to a government home, police said.
The orphange was being run in violation of rules, they said.
