Orphans tie rakhis to jawans in Manipur

Children of an orphanage tied rakhis (sacred thread) on the wrists of the jawans who in turn pledged for their safety at Tiddim road here on the occasion of Rakhsa Bandhan.

Sweets were distributed by the jawans of the Assam Rifles among the children of the orphanage 'Sneha Bhawan' to strengthen civil military bonding yesterday, a press release issued by Assam Rifles said.

The jawans were given a warm welcome song by the children.

The management committee said "we are thankful to the Army for remembering us and for the kind support extended", the release said.
