Oscars will be both traditional and new: host Seth MacFarlane

The "Ted" director said that he wants to acknowledge the traditional, yet still allow the ceremony to have some never seen before elements, reported Rolling Stone magazine.

"All the ceremonies have had redeeming qualities. It is about finding that balance between doing what I do, but acknowledging that this is the Academy Awards, not the roast of Donald Trump," MacFarlane said.

"It's walking that line between old-fashioned showmanship and allowing it to be contemporary with a little bit of bite. Johnny Carson and Billy Crystal are two hosts who walked that line.
