Global lighting solutions provider Osram today made a foray into air purifier category by launching Air Zing 2020 in India where cities like Delhi are witnessing deterioration in air quality.

Air Zing 2020, which is an easy-to-install retrofit system for window air conditioning systems, has been first launched here and the company is expecting to sell around one lakh units in next one year, the company said.

Initially the company has introduced Air Zing 2020, which uses ultraviolet light to clean the air from AC systems, in North India and would gradually expand it to other parts of the country.

"We have started with one base model and would soon introduce other which will fit with split air conditioner and other equipment," said Osram India CEO & Director Avinder Singh.

He further said: "We are targeting sales of around 100,000 units this fiscal."

The company follows October-September fiscal year.

Air Zing 2020, for which a patent application has been made, has been developed in Germany specifically for the Indian market. Osram has priced Air Zing 2020 at Rs 3,500.
