OTA Lady Cadet from Kashmir dies of snake bite

A 24-year old Lady Cadet from Jammu and Kashmir, undergoing training at the Officers' Training Academy in a forest area near here died after bitten by a snake.

Stanzin Odzes, a native of Ladakh in Jammu and Kashmir, was found unconscious by her batchmates last evening, during their training in a dense forest area at Kizhur village on the city outskirts, police said.

An emergency medical team with the trainees suspected it to be a case of snake bite and she was rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors declared her dead.

Post-mortem confirmed that the death was due to snake bite, they said.
 

The body is being sent to her native place tomorrow, police added.
