The Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday said its alliance was only with the people of Tamil Nadu and the party was committed to take to the people a host of welfare schemes the Centre has brought in.
President of the state unit of the party Tamilisai Soundararajan was talking to reporters here but did not say if the alliance with the masses was for the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.
She said, "The DMK says the BJP has an alliance with the AIADMK which says we have an alliance with the DMK".
"This is not true, the alliance is with the people," she said.
The Central government has been rolling out several welfare measures and the state unit was committed to create awareness on such initiatives among the people, she said.
Recently, Lok Sabha Deputy Speaker and AIADMK MP M Thambidurai had said the BJP and the DMK were building an 'alliance'.
"An alliance between the BJP and DMK is in the making. They were already in a coalition to form the government from 1999 to 2004. They are inching closer together for an alliance," he had said.
