SP which has been reduced to five seats in Uttar Pradesh today said its position was better than other parties like Congress and BSP and there was only a slight dent in its voter base.
The party's performance during recently concluded elections was better than that of Congress and BSP, Samajwadi Party spokesperson Rajendra Chaudhary said.
"SP got 22.26 per cent votes whereas in 2009 it got 23.26 per cent votes," he said without explaining the loss of more than three-fourth seats from last elections.
The party shrunk from 23 seats it had secured in 2009 to five seats where SP President Mulayam Singh Yadav and his family members were contesting.
Referring to a statement by BJP that state government's count down has begun, SP accused the saffron party's state leadership of talking in "unconstitutional and undemocratic" language.
"Success has gone in the heads of BJP leaders else they would not have used undemocratic and unconstitutional language that countdown has begun for the fall of the elected government," Chaudhary said.
