Former Congress MLA Rajendra Sharma, who was ousted for anti-party activities, has joined Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD).

Sharma joined the party yesterday, becoming the third former MLA to join RLD recently. The other ex-MLAs who came to RLD's fold were former Uttar Pradesh Minister Yograj Singh and ex-MLA of BSP from Kandhla constituency Balbir Singh Kiwana.

Sharma, who was reportedly close to Congress's former state chief Rita Bahuguna and himself was the party's state vice-president, told PTI he would fight the 2017 Assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh.

However, the constituency would be decided after discussion with the party leaders, he said.

Rajendra Sharma had won the Assembly election in 1985 form Meerut's Kharkhoda constituency. He, however, failed to win any election ever since.
