The Director General of Shipping Deepak Shetty today said there were at least 156 acts and rules related to merchant shipping which were outdated, of which at least sixty would be done away with.
He was speaking as the chief guest at the passing out parade at Anglo-Eastern Maritime Academy at Karjat near here.
The directorate of shipping had undertaken various measures to make facilities available online and all the services would be made available online within the next three months, he said.
The goal was to go 'paperless', he said.
