A day after Rajasthan Governor Margaret Alva assumed additional charge as Governor of Gujarat, outgoing Governor Kamla Beniwal was given a farewell today at Raj Bhavan in Gandhinagar by the state government.
Kamla Beniwal (86), who took over as Gujarat governor in November 2009, has now been appointed as Mizoram Governor, according to a Raj Bhavan release.
Before the function, Kamla was given a 'guard of honour' by the police. On the occasion, Gujarat Chief Minister Anandi Patel wished her luck and presented her a memento.

Gujarat Assembly Speaker Vaju Vala, along with ministers and key state officials, were present on the occasion.
In her farewell speech, Kamla said that she felt grateful to serve the people of Gujarat as Governor. She also thanked the state administration, citizens and different organisations for their support.
