Outstanding debt of the Mizoram government till March 31, 2016 was Rs 6,407.39 crore, Finance Minister Lalsawta told the state legislature today.
In a written reply to a query from Lalruatkima of the Mizo National Front (MNF), Lalsawta said that the highest outstanding debt was from the Provident Funds of the state government employees at Rs 2,777.87, followed by market loans at Rs 1,603.62.
He said that the state government spent Rs 22.29 crore for repayment of loan during 2015-16.
The percentage of the debt of the state as against the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) was 47.90.
