The gunmen tried to target former joint secretary of the Karachi Bar Association Farhat Hussain but he escaped unhurt. However, his brother-in-law was injured in the attack.

Karachi Bar Association President Mahmoodul Hassan said the attackers targeted the car of Farhat but he escaped unhurt and the attack on the lawyers was part of the prolonged spate of target killing in the city.

He also announced to boycott the city courts to protest the incident.

In another incident, unknown assailants killed a man near Baloch Colony bridge while three others were wounded in Jaffar Tayyar Society in Malir.

The menace of target killings, which are either ethnic, religious or sectarian in nature, has resurfaced in the city after a brief lull and official figures state that since January this year the death toll has reached around 1100.
