Over 1,000 vehicles seized in anti-traffic violation drive

Jammu and Kashmir police seized over 1,000 vehicles and chargesheeted more than 4,800 others in different parts of the Valley in the last five days in its drive against traffic violations.

"Continuing its drive against traffic violators to ensure people drive safely, Kashmir police in last five days have seized 1,074 and challaned 4,835 vehicles in different districts of the Valley," a police spokesman said.

He said certain measures shall have to be adopted by the drivers and commuters for their safety and hassle-free traffic movement.

These measures include wearing a helmet, avoiding overtaking, control over-speed, avoiding triple riding,wearing seat belts, avoiding driving on the wrong side, avoiding use of tinted glasses, avoiding drunk driving, halting vehicles on pedestrian crossings and avoiding use cell phones while driving, the spokesman said.
 

He said people, particularly the drivers and vehicle owners, are asked to obey the traffic rules and co-operate with the police for smooth and hassle-free movement of traffic on roads.
