Over 1,275 litres of illicit

liquor have been seized from different parts of Kamrup district during the last two weeks.

According to an official release, the Kamrup District Administration has seized the huge quantity of the country- made liquor from various parts of the district since the Assembly election was notified on March 4.

"The Kamrup District Administration has initiated necessary steps to to prevent cases of luring voters by giving liquor and other addictive materials from political parties and their candidates. We have formed flying squads and static surveillance teams," it added.

The district administration is keeping a watch with the help of Excise Department and Police.
 

The authority is carrying out operations in all the four Assembly constituencies in Kamrup in adherence to the directives from the Election Commission of India, the statement said.

Assam will go for Assembly polls in two phases on April 4 and 11, while counting of votes will be held on May 19.
