Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court A K Sikri today said to spread legal awareness, permanent legal literacy camps are being run in 1,500 schools of the state.
"Around 2,700 Para Legal Volunteers are imparting free knowledge regarding legal rights to people in the state," Sikri said.
Village courts are being set up in Haryana and today, there are courts at a distance of about 15 km, he said.
Sikri said that the number of courts is being increased and it would reduce the number of cases with a judge from 2,000 to 800.
Justice Sikri was speaking after inaugurating extension blocks of two courts in judicial complex of Jagadhari in Yamunanagar district.
He said that there are laws to check female foeticide, but, in order to curb this menace, people should be made aware of the law and it is necessary to ensure empowerment of women.
Speaking at the occasion, Judge of Punjab and Haryana High Court, Justice S K Mittal, said,"It is a matter of happiness for the district that two additional courts in Sub Division, Bilaspur and two in Jagadhri would soon start functioning."
Mittal said that there are 47 judicial complexes in the state out of which 21 are at district level and 26 at sub divisional level.
He said that recently, sub divisional level judicial complexes were started in Kalka and Pataudi.
