Over 1,700 employees working with Central Public Sector Enterprises, public sector banks, financial institutions and autonomous bodies have been punished so far this year for their alleged involvement in corruption by Central Vigilance Commission.
The CVC has awarded punishment to 1,738 such employees till June 30, this year, Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh told Lok Sabha in a written reply today.
The anti-corruption watchdog has received 2,357 cases of alleged corruption against employees of banks, CPSEs and financial institutions.
The CVC had received 5,492 and 5,423 cases in 2014 and 2013, respectively. In these, 2,144 and 2,680 employees were awarded punishment last year and in 2013, respectively, the minister said.
