Nearly 17,000 differently-abled voters cast their votes in the last assembly election in Rajasthan and it is expected that over 10 lakh such electors will be eligible to exercise their franchise in the state polls due this year-end, an official said.
Efforts to add the names of the remaining differently-abled voters in the voter list are being made and it is expected that lakhs of differently-abled voters will be registered with the efforts of the Election Commission and political parties, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Ashwani Bhagat said.
He said that five lakh differently-abled voters have been registered and there are over 10 lakh such voters who will exercise their franchise in the assembly election due this year end.
Bhagat said that over 17,000 differently-abled voters voted in the last assembly election.
The CEO asked the representatives of political parties to actively participate in getting the eligible voters added in the voter list under the special revision programme.
He said that the draft of voter list will be published on July 31 and claims and objections will be invited from July 31 to August 21. Dates for inviting claims and objections from booth-level workers of political parties have been fixed from August 12 to August 19.
Final voter list will be published on September 27 and will be treated as final for election, he added.
