Over 100 kg of adulterated khoya (a milk product) was seized from a local market here during a raid by the local administration.

On a tip off, a team of local administration officials led by Magistrate A K Singh raided the market yesterday and recovered over 100 kg of khoya, officials said.

The officials destroyed the khoya after foul smell was emanating from it. Samples from some local traders have been taken and sent for laboratory testing.

The Food Department officials said that the samples have been sent for lab testing and if they are found to be adulterated, action will be taken against these shopkeepers.

With the holi festival round the corner, khoya is generally used in making traditional sweets.
