Over 1,000 abstract submissions have been received from across the world for presentation at the Global Ayurveda Festival, commencing here on February 20.

Taking into account the overwhelming response, the organisers have decided to have 426 oral presentations and 356 poster presentations at eight different parallel venues, a statement from GAF said.

The huge number of abstract submissions received reflects the quantity of research that is happening in Ayurveda and related subjects across the world.

Papers from scholars of various other disciplines like Biotechnology, Botany and other related subjects have also been included in this year's International Seminar as part of the festival, it said.

According to P Sankarankutty, Chairman of the GAF 2014 Seminar Committee and former Director of Ayurveda Medical Education, Kerala, papers received are on different domains of public health, including woman and child health and good practices and community-based intervention studies.

All national institutions and Ayurveda universities have confirmed participation in the international seminar series that will be part of the festival.

Over 4,000 delegates from 35 countries are expected to attend GAF 2014, he said.
