Over 10k women run in SBI Pinkathon for cancer awareness

More than 10,000 women across age groups and backgrounds participated in the 'SBI Pinkathon' held here today to raise awareness about breast cancer.

The fourth edition of SBI Pinkathon, an international run only for women, aims at raising awareness about breast cancer, its causes and prevention and promoting women's well-being.

The run, which was held by Maximus MICE and Media Solutions under the aegis of United Sisters Foundation, had been split into various categories like 3-kms, 5-kms, 10-kms and 21-kms.

A group 38 visually impaired girls participated in the 3-kms run.

Additionally, the run witnessed a squad of cancer survivors who participated in 3-kms and 5-kms categories, an SBI statement said.
 

Around 25 mothers carrying babies just few months-old walked the 3-kms distance. The run, which was flagged off by super model Milind Soman, had participants as young as 5 months and as old as 79 years, it added.

"We, at State Bank of India, are proud to be a partner in this great initiative for women called the 'SBI Pinkathon' that aims to spread awareness about breast cancer and promote women's well-being," State Bank of India chairperson Arundhati Bhattacharya said.

"It is a run for women, of women, by women. Running is an incredibly effective way of making a healthier and smarter you. It helps you balance your weight, prevent disease, enhance your mood and boost your confidence and SBI Pinkathon is one event which will help you achieve all that," she added.
