Over 15,000 tonnes of wheat arrive in Haryana

Over 15,000 tonnes of wheat have arrived in grain markets of Haryana during the rabi marketing season 2016-17.

"Out of the arrival of 15,027 tonnes so far, 14,843 tonnes have been purchased by the government procurement agencies at Minimum Support Price," an official spokesman of Haryana Food and Supplies Department said.

He said 1,446 tonnes of wheat have been procured by Food and Supplies Department, whereas HAFED has purchased 454 tonnes.

Food Corporation of India (FCI) has purchased 3,000 tonnes of wheat, Haryana Agro Industries Corporation bought 56 tonnes and 9,887 metric tonnes have been procured by Haryana Warehousing Corporation.
 

Apart from this, 184 tonnes have been procured by traders.

Mewat district leads in wheat arrival at 9,768 tonnes, followed by Jhajjar at 1,773 tonnes.
