Over 150 people were rescued as incessant rains over the past two days raised water level in rivers and streams across Kashmir Valley, prompting police to put its personnel on alert to meet any eventuality.
As many as 125 people, trapped in floods at Brazlu village of Kulgam in south Kashmir due to overflowing of Veshhve nallah (stream), were rescued and taken to safer places, police said.
Large number of cattle were also evacuated during the operation, they said.

All the evacuated people have been shifted and adjusted at a Government Middle School.
Five more persons were rescued from Yannar village of Pahalgam in Anantnag district while police personnel were also deployed at Amadzoo and Arigol villages of the district to help the marooned people, they said.
All police stations have been alerted in view of incessant rains across the Valley to tackle with the emerging situation.
