A total of 16,592 patients died of infectious diseases, including AIDS, in China last year, the government said today.
More than 6.4 million infectious disease cases were reported on the Chinese mainland in 2013, the National Health and Family Planning Commission said in a statement.
Among the 3.1 million cases categorised as Class A and B infectious diseases, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
