Punjab and Haryana have so far seen arrival of nearly 171 lakh tonnes (LT) of wheat in various grain markets during the current procurement season.
In Punjab, Government agencies and private millers have procured more than 108.82 LT of wheat until yesterday, an official spokesman said here today.
He said that out of total procurement of wheat, the government agencies procured 97.7 per cent whereas private traders procured the rest.

The spokesman said that Sangrur district with 9.46 LT of wheat was leading in procurement operations whereas district Ludhiana with 7.94 LT of procurement was at second slot.
In neighbouring Haryana, nearly 62 LT of wheat has so far arrived in various mandis during the current procurement season, out of which government agency HAFED has purchased maximum of nearly 24 LT wheat.
Sirsa and Karnal districts of Haryana were leading in the wheat arrivals in the State.
