Tamil Nadu assembly polls: Over 18% cast votes in first two hours

Election Commission has deferred polling in Aravakurichi and Thanjavur following allegations of bribing of voters

Tamil Nadu witnessed brisk polling in 232 Assembly constituencies today with over 18% voters exercising their franchise by 9 a.m.

According to a senior electoral official, 18.3% voters had cast their votes.

Election Commission had deferred polling in Aravakurichi and Thanjavur following allegations of bribing of voters.

Following the Election Commission's decision, polling is being held in 232 of the 234 Assembly constituencies.

Polling in Aravakurichi and Thanjavur will be held on May 23 and counting of votes on May 25.

For the rest of the 232 segments, counting will be as per schedule on May 19.
