Over 2,000 inspections conducted by Labour department in June

2,619 inspections were conducted and 590 violations of various kinds detected, out of which more than Rs 7.50 lakh was recovered as fine, a spokesman of the department said today.

57 regular inspections of various industrial establishments were also carried out and prosecution launched in 444 cases under Factories Act, 1948, he said.

During the month, as many as 989 prosecutions were launched and 185 convictions were obtained.

193 industrial disputes were settled by conciliation officers of the department and 31 disputes were withdrawn by workers or trade unions, he said.

The department recovered Rs 91.81 lakh as unpaid contribution and donation of wages from the employers and spent Rs 80.26 lakh on various labour welfare schemes run by the Welfare Board during the month.

 

The department was running 11 Labour Welfare Centres in important industrial towns of the state where workers were provided the facilities of a reading room, library, knitting, training classes for women and other recreational activities, he added.
