Over 2,300 illegally erected ad and sign boards removed

The district administration in association with the City corporation, has removed over 2,300 illegally erected sign boards and advertisement boards at various places in and around the city in the last two months.

The drive against the illegal boards and flexes were carried out by the collector, T N Hariharan and Corporation commissioner, Vijayakarthikeyan, based on the orders of Madras High Court, a few months ago.

Accordingly, 2,383 boards have been removed from October oand 35 boards alone were dismantled today from Avanashi Main Road, Ananashi Highway and other busy commercial streets in the city, officials said.

Similarly drive against such boards will continue, as it obstructed movement of public and also traffic, they said.
