Over 200 artists to display talent at Thane's Upvan Art Fest

More than 200 artists will showcase their talent at the three-day Upvan Arts Festival to begin here from January 10 next year, the organisers said.

The city of Thane will be home to artistic performances and events scheduled at the picturesque Upvan lake, with the Yeoor Hills at its backdrop, an official release said here today.

At the festival, organised by the Upvan Art Foundation, over 200 national and international artists from a gamut of diverse art forms will showcase their talent.

The Visual Arts Pavilion will showcase works by eminent artists local and international like Sudhir Patwardhan, Sunil Gawde and Gigi Scaria, Sharmila Samant, Prajakta Potnis and others at the event. International artists from USA and Germany will also participate in contemporary art events, it said.
 

The festival will put on display performing arts, fine and traditional arts, culinary arts, visual and digital art, art installations, sculptures, interactive art, contemporary art and folk centric art.

There would also be workshops and seminars on art related subjects by experienced professionals to impart skills in their respective fields.

The festival is supported by Thane Municipal Corporation and MTDC.

Special travel arrangements have been made for the locals to visit the festival at the Upvan lake, the release added.
