Over 200 soldiers join Army

Over 200 soldiers on Saturday formally joined the Army after completing their training at the Gorkha Training Centre here in a colourful celebration attended by Army officials and family members, an official said

Altogether 201 recruit took oath of affirmation at the Parade ground of the training centre of the Gorkha Training Centre here today, Defence spokesperson Grp Capt Amit Mahajan said in a statement.

The passing out parade of batch 164 recruits was carried out at the 58 GTC where recruits of 5 and 8 Gorkha Rifles took the oath of affirmation at the parade ground, he said.

Brigadier Manohar Thomas, Commandant 58 Gorkha Training Centre reviewed the colourful parade and exhorted the young soldiers to be the finest warriors of the Army.
 

Recruit Remon Lepcha was adjudged as the 'Overall Best Recruit' and was awarded the 'Manekshaw Khukri'.

Recruit Dubal Rana was adjudged Best Recruit of 5 Gorkha Rifles (Frontier Force) and was awarded the 'Zorawar Khukri' and Recruit Min Bahadur Rana was adjudged the Best Recruit of 8 Gorkha Rifles and was awarded the 'Dutta Trophy'.

The parents of the young soldiers were also bestowed with the 'Gaurav Padak' to commemorate their contribution to the nation.
