More than 200 villages have been inundated here due to the overflowing Rapti river, prompting authorities to sent an NDRF team to the affected areas, official sources said today.

The increasing water level of the river, which has crossed the danger line at Sisai Ghat, has blocked the Balrampur-Tulsipur road.

State PWD Minister Shivpal Yadav visited the area and ordered concerned officials to take swift action.

District Magistrate Preeti Shukla and Superintendent of Police Rajeev Malhotra instructed the revenue and police officials to keep a vigil in the area.

In flooded areas, revenue officials have been deployed to help affected people. Boats have been sent in the highly flooded areas, Shukla said.
