The government has received over 2,100 complaints regarding subletting of its quarters in the national capital since 2014, Rajya Sabha was informed today.
According to data provided by Minister of State for Urban Development Rao Inderjit Singh in Rajya Sabha, the government received a total of 2,147 complaints since 2014 with 824 in 2014, 980 in 2015 and 343 this year till July.
These include 576 complaints regarding government quarters located at MB Road, 516 for flats at R K Puram and 147 for Sarojini Nagar in over last two-and-half years.

Out of 2,147 complaints, the subletting cases were proved and penalties imposed in 833 cases since 2014.
Regular inspection is being conducted by the Directorate of Estates to detect subletting whose rules have been amended to act as a deterrent for such activities, Singh said.
1,950 inspections were conducted between January 2014 and July 20 this year to check subletting of government quarters, the Minister said.
