Over 25 lakh saplings to be planted in Rajasthan in Jul-Aug

Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje gave necessary directions to officials to carry out a plantation drive during which more than 25 lakh saplings would be planted in Rajasthan from July 1 to August 15.

This will be carried out under the Mukhyamantri Jal Swavalamban Abhiyan, said a state government spokesperson.

During her meeting with the officials, the Chief Minister also asked them to ensure that the saplings are properly watered and that they grow and survive, the spokesperson added.

School students will also be motivated to participate in the drive, he said.

Additional Chief Secretary, Forest and Environment Nihal Chand Goel said in the meeting that a total area of 57,103 hectares in the state will be covered with plantation during 2016-17.
