Over 3,000 power theft cases were settled on one single day at Lok Adalats held by BSES discoms through mutual agreement between parties involved, an official spokesperson said Monday.
The cases were settled at the district courts of Saket, Dwarka and Karkardooma and permanent the Lok Adalat at ITO on Sunday, a BSES spokesperson said.
The Lok Adalats were held by BSES Rajdhani Power Ltd (BRPL) and BSES Yamuna Power Ltd (BYPL), who are "litigants" in power theft cases, in association with Delhi State Legal Services Authority (DSLSA), he said.
The paperless Lok Adalats saved around 30,000 standard sized papersheets, he said.
This was the second Lok Adalat organised by BSES discoms in the last couple of months.
Breaking all previous records, the Lok Adalats organised in December 2018 had settled around 4000 power theft cases.
In total, over 37,000 cases have been resolved in last 22 special Lok Adalats, the spokesperson added.
