Over 3,000 works have been completed under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) in Budgam district of Kashmir, generating 4,67,122 man-days of employment under the scheme.
"Against an available amount of Rs 17.18 crore, an expenditure of Rs 14.36 crore under MGNREGA has been incurred with an execution of 3,094 works in the district generating 4,67,122 man days of work for the people," officials said at a meeting in Budgam yesterday.
The meeting was convened by District Development Commissioner (DDC), Budgam, to review the pace of developmental activities and achievements registered during the current fiscal, an official spokesman said here.

The meeting was informed that an expenditure of Rs 20.97 crore was registered under various sectors including Rural Development, Roads and Buildings, he said.
The DDC directed the executing departments and agencies to expedite the pace of the development works, especially in wake of the fast approaching winter season, the spokesman said.
The DDC also stressed for the implementation of all the decisions taken by district development board in letter and spirit and asked the officers to generate funds for District Red Cross Society, to meet exigencies at district level and to help the destitute, he said.
