Over 3,500 vehicles prosecuted in Delhi

More than 3,500 vehicles were prosecuted by the Delhi Traffic Police during a special drive against unauthorisedly parked vehicles and those parked in 'No Parking' here today.

"During the drive, 3,631 vehicles were prosecuted. Out of this, 593 vehicles towed away, 3,038 challans were issued on the spot and wheel clamps were applied on 172 vehicles," said Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Anil Shukla.

As many as 82 teams of traffic police officers along with cranes were deployed to tow away and prosecute unauthorisedly parked vehicles on roads in addition to other area traffic officers who applied wheel clamps to vehicles and prosecuted violators on the spot.
 

This drive covered all arterial roads, commercial areas, market places such as Vikas Marg, Connaught Place, Aurobindo Marg, Kamla Nagar, Chandni Chowk, Asaf Ali Road, JLN Marg, Karol Bagh, South Extn, Sarojini Nagar, Jail Road, Najafgarh Road, Patel Road, Road No 41, Wazirpur Road, Azad Market, Mall Road, Central Market (Lajpat Nagar), Press Enclave Road etc.

All traffic circles participated in the special drive in their respective areas which was closely monitored by senior officials.
