Smuggled gold weighing over 3 kgs and valued at over Rs 1 crore has been seized at the international airport here in two separate cases, customs official said Tuesday.
The Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) had on May 5 intercepted a passenger, who arrived in the city from Singapore and found 33 gold biscuits weighing 3.3 kgs worth Rs 1.04 crore concealed in a tailor-made pouch wrapped around his waist and shoes.
The man was arrested, they said.
In another case, customs sleuths recovered 430.16 grams of smuggled gold worth Rs 13.57 lakh, which was concealed in the form of inner support frame of a trolley bag by a passenger who had arrived here from Dubai, they added.
