Over three tonnes of ready-to-eat food material was provided to rain-affected people in Tiruvallur district in Tamil Nadu by Defence Food Research Laboratory of the DRDO.
Officials of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) said one tonne of food material could serve up to 2,000 people. The aid was distributed in association between Combat Vehicles Research and Development Establishment (CVRDE), an arm of DRDO, and the Tiruvallur district administration.
The initiative was taken based on directives DRDO Secretary and Director General S Christoper to extend all assistance and to provide 'ready-to-eat' food to the affected people, the officials said.
Aid was being distributed for the past three days to various affected persons in the district, they added.
