Around 300 shanties were gutted in a fire in Sahibabad area here rendering over a thousand people homeless.
Six fire tenders were pressed into service and they took about eight hours to douse the flames, Station House Officer Upendra Yadav said.
No one was injured in the incident, he said, adding that the cause of fire is not known yet.
