Over 3000 participate in Tata Steel Bhubaneswar Run-a-thon

More than 3,000 runners participated in the much awaited Tata Steel Run-a-thon, the first professional run of the city organised by the steel major today.

The 10-km run was flagged off at Kalinga Stadium by Berhampur MP Sidhant Mohapatra, cricketer Sourabh Tiwari, Arun Misra, Vice President, Gopalpur Project, Prashant Mallick, General Manager, Corporate Services, Kalinganagar Project, Tata Steel and Manikanata Naik, Chief Resident Executive, Tata Steel, Bhubaneswar.

Sukumati Laguri and Pravesh Sini were the winners in female and male category respectively in 10 km run and awarded Rs 51,000 each, a Tata Steel release said.

It was followed by 7 km run for Corporates and 7 km run for Institutions, 5 km run for School Children and 5 km walk for citizens and 3 km run for differently abled persons.
 

Sanjeev Marik, Director General of Police, U N Behera, Development Commissioner and Saswat Mishra, Secretary, Sports and Youth Services, Government of Odisha were present on the occasion among others, it said.
