Over 4,000 hectares of forest affected in 1743 incidents of

Jammu and Kashmir government today said that as many as 4387.26 hectares of forest area has been affected in 1743 incidents of fire during last three years in the state.

In a written reply to the question of NC MLA Mubarak Gul in Legislative Assembly, Minister for Forest, Environment and Ecology, Chowdhary Lal Singh said that as many as 4387.265 hectares of forest area has been affected in 1743 incidents of fire during last three years in the state.

The highest number of 781 incidents of forest fire took place in 2016-17 upto December 2016 in which 2556.319 hectares of forest land was affected, followed by 470 incidents of fire in the year 2014-15 in which 972.525 hectares of forest land was affected, 278 forest fire incident in 2013-14 in which 516.938 hectares of forest land affected and 214 incidents of forest fire were reported in 2015-16 in which 341.483 hectares of forest land was affected, the minister said.
