Over 45,000 illegal Bangladeshi migrants have been deported from the national capital in the last 22 years, it was submitted before a Delhi court.
The Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) also said that this year till June 30, they have deported 182 Bangladeshi migrants and a batch of 119 such illegal migrants are waiting deportation.
"It is worth mentioning here that this office (FRRO) has deported 45,066 illegal migrants of Bangladesh since year 1991 till date and a batch of 119 illegal migrants of Bangladesh are restricted for deportation," the FRRO said in its reply to the court which had sought explanation from it for not complying with its direction to periodically identify illegal Bangladeshi migrants.

While the Chief Secretary is yet to file response, the court on behalf of the Police Commissioner was told that Delhi Police had approached the High Court which has stayed that order.
The Delhi Police official also said that the High Court has asked them to file by September 30 the data regarding illegal migrants who have already been deported to their respective countries.
Additional Session Judge Rajender Kumar Shastri while sentencing four Bangladeshi nationals to 13 years in jail for committing a robbery in south Delhi had on April 4 directed Delhi government to identify and deport all foreigners living illegally in the national capital.
It had also asked them to file report "every third month about the progress made in identification of illegal migrants and also about their deportation till last identified illegal migrants is expelled".
