Over 46,000 votes polled through ballot papers

A total of 46,271 votes were polled through ballot papers in the Delhi Assembly elections, poll panel said today.

In the election, around 95,000 government employees were depoloyed on poll duty while security personnel in good numbers were roped in for election duty to ensure smooth conduct of the polling process

"46,271 votes were polled through ballot papers in Assembly poll this time," said a senior official.

The official also said that as per rule, ballot papers were accepted till 8 AM on the day of counting and after this time period, officials do not count them.

In this election, polling had taken place at 12,177 polling stations, of which 714 were identified as "critical". Of these, 191 were "highly critical".
 

For the first time, indelible ink was also applied with brush instead of wooden stick.

Aam Aadmi Party registered a thumping victory in the Delhi Assembly polls winning 67 seats in the 70-member House.
