Over 4k Raj villages to be covered under water conservation

Over 4,000 villages and 66 urban areas of Rajasthan will be covered under the second phase of Mukhyamantri Jal Swavalamban Abhiyan scheduled to be launched on December 9.

The campaign aims to ensure effective implementation of water harvesting and conservation related activities in the rural areas besides resolving the desert state's water scarcity problem.

Sriram Vedire, Chairman of the Rajasthan River Basin and Water Resources Planning Authority, said that the second phase of the campaign will cover 4,200 villages and 66 urban areas of the state.

Reviewing the preparedness of the campaign, Vedire said that launch programmes will be held at the district, block and village level which will be attended by local MP, MLAs and officials concerned.
 

Principal Secretary Agriculture Neelkamal Darbari, Panchayti Raj secretary Anand Kumar, Secretary Rural development Rajiv Singh Thakur, Secretary Water Resources department Shikhar Agrawal, Agriculture Secretary Ambrish and other officials were present in the meeting where the announcement was made.
