Over 5,000 tourists participate in Patnitop carnival

More than five thousand tourists today joined a day-long carnival at Patnitop in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Director Tourism, Sojanya Sharma, who declared the event open, said a project amounting to Rs five crore have been sanction for the development of this tourist circuit of Mantalai and Patnitop.

He said government is keen to boost tourism in this area by creating infrastructure for the tourists and also making efforts to attract the pilgrims of Mata Vaishno Devi here.

The tourism is the back bone of the state economy and all efforts are on to trap the potential of Jammu province, he added.
