Special Lok Adalats held by the BSES power discoms with Delhi State Legal Services Authority (DSLA) received an unprecedented response with settlement of over 5,600 power theft cases involving Rs 50 crore.

The Lok Adalats held over the last weekend, were a green affair with no use of paper which resulted in saving of around 30,000 A-4 sheets, said a BSES spokesperson.

The customers-cum-litigants of BSES Rajdhani Power Limited (BRPL) and BSES Yamuna Power Limited (BYPL) in south, west, central and east Delhi participated in on-the-spot settlement of cases related to direct power theft and meter tampering, he said.

Cases that were either pending in any court or are yet to be filed were taken up by the Lok Adalats.

The last 16 special Lok Adalats, including the ones held over the weekend, have resolved around 27,600 cases with a value of around Rs 200 crore, added the spokesperson.
