Over 500 projects under JNNURM completed: UPA

Completion of over 500 projects under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) and expansion of Metro network in various cities have been listed as achievements by the UPA government during the year.

In its report card that was presented to the people today, it has been mentioned that 517 projects, including 231 projects under Urban Infrastructure Development Scheme for Small and Medium Towns (UIDSSMT), were completed.

On the expansion of the Metro networks, the government said that projects worth Rs 3342.78 crore covering 19,717 kilometre were approved during the year 2012-13.

The report said that while work for Metro projects and expansion of existing networks was on in Delhi, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata, approvals had been given for Metro networks in Jaipur and Kochi.
 

The report also mentioned that against the sanction of 15,260 modern buses enabled with Intelligent Transport System in 61 cities, 14,000 had been delivered.
